Christmas

It was so nice to have Christmas at home this year. It seemed virtually impossible to travel with the boys being so young (we could see a disaster heading our way with that one). Both sets of grandparents we able to join us this year. We had enough people to act out the nativity. Grandpa was the donkey and a wise man. Grandma and Shalyce were shepherds. Baby Jesus was a baby doll...the boys were "on location" somewhere else.

Gingerbread Houses

It's becoming a tradition to make gingerbread houses every year. We've done it the past few years and now the girls ask for it when December rolls around. It's easy to do with the ready-made kits. The kit has all the candy, royal icing, and gingerbread you need. Some kits even have the gingerbread framework already in place (that's the kind I like to get).

We only had one house this year so Haysannah decorated one side and Shalyce decorated the other side. It was a good lesson on planning ahead to make the right design (and to get the right piece of candy before the other sister got it). Their house turned out really well. Once they were done they asked if they could eat it! We put it on the counter for display, but every chance they had they snuck another piece of candy off the house. The house was bare bones in a matter of a few days.

While my mom was visiting...I even caught her taking a piece off. There's a kid in all of us!

Tis the Season

We got all dressed up in our holiday red to go downtown for the "lighting of the tree". It took some time to change our clothes, change diapers, pack a diaper bag, eat for dinner, take these pictures, and feed the boys. By the time we finished all our preparations we were worn out and out of time. We instead went for a drive and saw some Christmas lights around the neighborhoods. What a process!

DJ was in town and got her picture with the kids...we were going to wait to have our family shot by the holiday tree (which we'll have to get another weekend).
